Hardwoods up to exterior door - DIY Chatroom

The room where I plan to lay hardwoods has two exterior doors. Is there a proper way to run the hardwoods up to an exterior door, or do you just run it right up the edge under the thresh hold?(with 1/2" gap of course) I guess I am thinking of how it will achieve a "finished look".

Do yourself a favor... don't run the wood up to the threshold.

Many times I've had customers with existing wood floors call me to look at damage with an eye to fixing it.

Where I typically see problems with wood floors are kitchens, baths, utility rooms, and entries.

Moisture finds its way in at the threshold and typical issues are; delamination, dark streaks (fungal growth), cupping, crinkled finish, and gaps where swelled planks compressed eachother's edges that later dried out.

The typical solution at entries is to cut out the damaged area and replace it with ceramic tile or some other water-resistant flooring.

So, just do it that way from the get-go.
