Hardwood vs. laminate

Is there any difference in the installation for floating laminate wood versus floating real hardwood?

Ive installed several floating laminate floors, but ive never installed real hardwood and thats what was bought for our kitchen.

There's no such thing as floating laminite wood.

Do you mean laminite as opposed to engineered flooring?
May sound picky but hard to ansewer without knowing what you have.

Why are you installing a floating floor and not nailing it down?

this is a pic of laminate wood. this is what i usually install. hardwood was bought for the kitchen, its a floating hardwood with tongue and groove so it doesnt have to be nailed down, and i dont want it nailed down. that way its easier to replace if need be.

Only differance is with engineered flooring you have to glue every seam if you want a floating floor.
Follow the directions on the box to the letter!

You are absolutely no help. If it had come in a box with instructions, i wouldnt be here. I dont know where my fiance got it, but its just the planks. And i can tell it was previously installed somewhere, and there is no glue residue or nail holes, so its obviously a floating floor. I guess i will just attempt to install it the same way as the laminate and hope for the best.

It states in the description that it has an attached underlayment,so it's laminate flooring and can be installed floating.

Did Joe take your money in exchange for this wood? How is it that each carton does not have specific instructions and contact number? What the heck brand is it anyway?

some of the engineered floors snap and lock together like laminate. have you tried putting any of the pieces together to see if they lock?

Does Joe owe you an answer? Why? He never said "there is no such thing as laminate". He said there's no such thing as "floating laminate wood". Laminate is not wood, it's laminate or plastic.

Why don't you call the people that sold you flooring wrapped in plastic with no ID or instructions?
