hardwood rehab

Speaking of Hardwood in need of help... does anyone know how deep motor oil might sink in to 3/4 sawn Maple? I have 3-400 sqft of the stuff, but was told that motor oil spilled, therefore the floors were painted before I removed them.

I'm hoping that I can lay the floor, then sand/re-finish. Although likely a PITA, I would like to re-use the wood, as I know the history of it.

Thanks BTW. this looks like a cool forum!
