hardwood or pergo

well the construction is moving slowly however one day i'll be ready to have the flooring installed. i am struck between real hardwood or laminate like pergo for the kitchen and nook. price being no object...really it is. but i want the house done right the first time, so if i have to spend extra cash for the right thing now id rather do it up front instead of having to have it redone later. whats the opinion.

I went top of the line Pergo in my home, It's tougher.

Here's Consumer Reports take on it. http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/s...lth_search.y=5
I generally agree with them. Do some reading and come back with more specific questions, we'll get Flor in here too.

Good and bad to both.

Lam: More durable than wood, more affordable too. Long lasting, but not as long as wood.
Wood: More valuable and can be sanded and refinished many times if you buy the right kind. More expensive, but so is any good investment. Less durable than lam, but the refinishing cancels that out.

Here's my theory:

Get a bid for both, divide those numbers by the amount of years you will be in the home, and multiply that # by the value each have, then subtract the amount of times you will have to remove contents and get out of the house for a week every time you sand and refinish the wood. Then Divide that number into 1/2 and add 50%.
:)

In other words...to each his own.
