I currently have an open floor plan on the first floor (between the kitchen and living room), with laminate in the kitchen area and carpet in the living room. We want to replace the carpet and put in solid hardwood, but I am concerned that it will clash with the laminate since they will be up against each other. I've read that I am better off not trying to find a a match because unless it's a perfect match, it will look shabby. So I would be better off choosing a totally different color. However, all of the trim (baseboard, staircase, window trim, etc.) in the living room matches the laminate. Was hoping to get some advise on what I should do? I'm not sure I can find a perfect match with the current laminate, and I'm not sure if I should be concerned with trying to match both color and grain pattern?
And sort of related to this, should the hardwood color match the color of your door, baseboard and window trim?
The connection between the solid and the laminate will never be 100% color and grain pattern match, but it is still look good if it will be in a deferent rooms,
My opinion is that the baseboard is not have to be the same color as the floor,
About the doors and windows trim I think It will be nice if it will match.
You didnít say what is the color you trying to match (that way we can help you to find it) if you have picture that will help
