Hardwood has a subfloor on top that I would like to remove

Hello,

I just discovered that I have redwood hardwood flooring in my kitchen. Actually there are two types I believe but I am not sure 100% at the moment.

The previous owner we came to find placed a subfloor on top of the kitchen hardwood floor.

We were going to place a cork floor in but now that we discovered the hardwood we will be going to use that floor instead.

However this is where I come here to ask you questions. The subfloor had been I guess glued to the hardwood. There is a black "matting" underneith the sub floor that is extremely tedious ro remove as it is bound by adhesive if I had to guess.

So, what would you suggest I use to remove the adhesive from the hardwoord flooring?

Removing the sub floor is easy, its this stuff thats glued to the floor thats a problem. Thanks for any tips and your time

goodness.

worst case.....never will happen. scrape and destroy, then sand the heck out of it until all gone.

no miracle here.

hmm...so you are saying that there is no solvents that can remove adhesive off of a hardwood floor?

bostics best makes an adhesive remover safe for urethane floors. but that may be too weak and you are not going to save the urethane.
I am sure there is acetoneor thinner as well.
in the end you will need to sand anyway, so possibly you could let the sanding do all the work.
