Hardwood floors

Hi everyone, I am looking to purchase some hard wood floors and I am looking for some recommendations. Is that engineered stuff any good? Is unfinished floor better than prefinished? I am looking for 3/4 nail down type, I wood like to get the prefinished floors, this way once its laid down, its done with, no sanding and prep work, but then again looking for suggestions. Maybe unfinished is better, I don't know. Thanks

there is no better. It totally depends on the homeowner.

heres good and bad to both:

Engineered - Floats over substrates so it can take some irregularities and does not require a specific substrate. It saves some trees. It is more stable than a solid with humidity. It can be more expensive.

Solid - Some people like the sound of a solid floor when they walk on it.
But it may require a specific substrate for install.

Prefinished - Ready to live on after install. But if the manufacturer is a low end, it will not be as good and smooth of a look as on site finish. It is also a more durable finish than on site, although keep in mind this has to do with abrasion resistance and not scratch resistance. Also cleaner than on site finishing.

On site finishing: An art form really. Some people want a perfect smooth crystal clear still water finish, and that really takes on site.
