Hardwood Flooring Transition
I am installing a hardwood floor that meets with a ceramic tile floor at a 45 degree angle. What is the best way to transition between these two surfaces. I have to leave a space for protential expansion of the hardwood, but I want to hide it so the transition is as smooth as possible. The two ideas from the local hardware was flexible caulking in the expansion space or a thin moulding over the space that is only nailed to the hardwood floor. Any other suggestions???

Color match caulk to the grout color & go with the idea from the hardware store. Pretty common practice around here.

try to put a board accross, so that it runs paralel to the tile, then but all your 45 cuts into that one... then grout between the board accross and the tile... that way you don't have to install a transition that's going to be on top....
this is the closest pic to what i'm trying to say.... you see the section that meets the new room at an angle has a board running accross all the others....
