Hardwood flooring basics

Someone started our kitchen floor but stopped about ten inches from the cabinets. I have a box of hardwood flooring they left behind. I see paper under the flooring...how do I finish the floor? Lay down the brown paper, attach the boards (they are tongue and groove). Do I put glue in the tongue and grooves or under the hardwood on top of the paper?

Thanks anyone!

Hardwood flooring basics

If this is 3/4 inch thick hardwood, tongue and groove, you typically install over rosin paper or felt, and drive nails diagonally through the tongue into the subfloor. No glue. The last strip cannot be blind nailed as the cabinet gets in the way, and is typically face nailed using finish nails, the nails are driven in below the surface, and putty is used to cover the nails. Make sure you leave an adequate gap at the edge, typically 1/2 inch, covered with molding.
