Hardwood Flooring

Can hardwood flooring be installed on a wall?

Certainly you can do it, it's just hard to walk on like that. :jester:

My house was originally an old logging dormitory from the 30's, it is built with no studs, just shiplap (vertical), siding (horizontal) with cedar shingles on the outside. On the inside (all six surfaces) is 1x4 t&g clear fir. Someone came along years later and added 2x2 on the inside and wood veneer panelling with a layer of paper-backed tin foil for insulation. So... certainly you can do it, but you might not like the cost today.

probably a good engineered wood adhered to the wall will be fine.

I asked because I saw something in a restaurant that appeared to be flooring on the wall but maybe it was a decorative wainscot? It was a dark cherry wood. I liked the look but have been unable to find it.

You need to use some special thing to hold it.
