hardwood in carriage barn

hi all,

If I am putting down hardwood in a second floor of a carriage barn that will not be heated every day throughout a upstate NY winter; do I need to worry about the temperature change and the wood warping?

thanks!

Yes you will need to worry.
Not much you can do but keep the temp and humidity at a constant.

An engineered floor is more stable, but still may cause probs.

I guess that depends on what look you after. If you want it to look like a well finished floor...it probably won't stay like that very long. If you're after the wood plank look that will have gaps over time, no problem, that type of floor has been in garages/barns for centuries!

Good point, I think that is probably what we will go with, wide plank, rustic.

Thanks!!
