There's a reason it's called SIDING.......it is not and never was intended to be used as flooring.

I had to google it, it says its a cement fiber board, guess you could put it on your floor, lots of people get excited about taking wood from the barn and laying it down for a floor. You might want to contact a hardy rep before ordering up some though. Or you could borrow some from your neighbor and try it.

Hadrdiebacker tile backer is the exact same product and I'm thinkin' somewhere in their product discription they say it is not intended for a wear surface.

That was my reasoning when I replied. Yeah, you could contact a Hardie rep and see what his answer is. He might get a chuckle out of it too.

I stained a few planks and screwed them to porch steps to see how thay stand up to sun and traffic.I had never seen hardy stained. It held up vary well with a rock hard finish.I used minwax gunstock .It looks so good i wondered if any has used it as flooring.

Go ahead and use it for your flooring in your new home and report back every six months to let us know how it is going.
