Hardibacker under new tub

I installed 3/4 inch plywood and then 1/4 inch Hardibacker on my bathroom floor during remodel. Is it Ok if the Hardi is on the entire floor including what will be under the new tub?

Waste of materials but not going to do any harm.

Spend the money on waterproofing instead. Either a membrane or something like redguard.
