Hanging Floor

I have a home with a high ceiling and I am wondering how to create more space by creating another floor for a small library/office with pillars, a balustrade and a staircase up to half of the entire room. I would welcome some ideas on design and engineering and pictures if any.

Thanks,
Adwoa

That sounds like a cool idea. But you need to call an architect (who will advise you and consult a structural engineer if necessary) to do this job. Not only is it required by law, but you should employ a professional in at least a limited role to do this the right way, safely.
