Hand scraping oak floors

My wife would like the hand scarped look in our oak floors (18 year old floors, possibly refinished once).

Have found one article about this, but sounds incredibly labor intensive. Googled and found a link from the contractor side of this website suggesting an electric planer with an undulating head

Has anyone tried this on an existing floor?? The big problem I forsee is the ends of the boards, which the planer would not get to. I guess I could hand scrape the last 6 inches or so..

Thanks

You could do the scraping by hand, but that would take a good chunk of time. Using a powered planer like the Festool one would make it go quicker. Plus, those Festool planers are great, the motor runs really smooth, and are nice to work with.:)
The only problem you would run into would be what you have stated, at the end of the boards where the planer would not be able reach. That would be where you would have to do it by hand.
