Grout separating from wall on tile floor
Installed ceramic tile floor in my kitchen about a 1.5 years ago, noticed that there's now a small gap between the grout and wall. Baseboard moldings were already in place when the tile/grout was put down (rather than installing the moldings after the floor was put down), grout lines are 1/2" all around.
What's the best way to fill the gap? More grout or will the same thing happen? Bead of caulk? |

Grout separating from wall on tile floor
Most grout makers have caulk that matches the color of the grout. I'd use that.

Grout separating from wall on tile floor
2003,
That floor was installed wrong in the first place. Tiles should not be grouted to the wall or moldings. You need to leave an expansion joint. In the case where base molding is not removed, you should tile within 1/4" and then cover the gap with shoe molding. Shoe molding is always required and perhaps desirable in a case like that. !/2" in kinda wide though. How does it look? Tiling a floor that way is the main cause of tiles 'tenting'. The floor expands and or the house shrinks and the floor buckles. Jaz
