grout problem

did at least a dozen baths, never saw this before. 30 square ft of 12x12 ceramic. used polyblend sanded, tan color. finished 30 hours ago and the grout looks ok, except color is white.mixed well with drill, not too wet, didnt work with too much of a wet sponge(did plenty of previous jobs with same technique). odd part is the picture shows white grout lines and the clump of grout in pic i fished out of garbage is perfect match. called company and tech mentioned efflorescense, and suggested let grout cure for a week and scrub with sulfamic acid. if i have to remove it id rather do now instead of letting grout cure for an extra week.if i wet it with rag the grout darkens to a good match.

additionally i just spoke with neighbor, he had same problem with his backsplash, final grout color looked white instead of a dark tan. the phone tech mentioned maybe the local water supply affected it? he mentioned distilled water in future , any ideas?i hate to waste e week to find out the acid wash didnt work

grout problem

Only time I've seen that ,to much water was used in the cleaning process.

However, the grout usually looks blotchy --not consistently light.

Jaz might have an idea,sorry I don't.

I just don't know---Have you tried sanding a small spot?

See if it's just the top ? I see the scrap sample is the correct color---might be your washing method--
