Grout between bamboo flooring and tile/marble
I installed a floating bamboo floor recently, and I am happy with it. However, there is a 1/4" gap between the kitchen tiles and the wood floor, and also a 1/4" between a marble threshold in the bathroom (see pictures). I mixed up some grout and put it in the gaps. The grout dried and later started to crack and break apart. What can I put in the gap that will work better? Thank you
As you might guess, floating wood floors, even if it's nailed down is moving all the time. Grout is not the proper thing to use in those gaps. Use caulking to match the grout, every grout maker has it. I'm guessing you used sanded grout, so get sanded caulk.
I would use 100% silicone caulking. It is extremely flexible. TEC products has silicone in quite a few colors. If it is not 100% silicone it will eventually crack and break. Clean all surfaces good with denatured alcohol before caulking.
