Grid flooring for damp basement

Hi all,

I (rather stupidly but I didn't know) had plasterboard and a woodfloor installed in my basement on the cheap before I moved in my new house. 3 months on and I had to take all the plasterboard off the walls mold grew on them. The hardwood floor doesn't haver mold on it yet but a damp contractor came in and said it was only a matter of time. He said that we should have installed a simple metal grid floor system.

I have looked a where to buy such a system but it's not obvious. I want something simple and cheap. I just need to be able to walk on it - we only use the basement as a storage room.

Do you know where I could buy it? Have you heard of fiberglass grating? Would it be good as well?

many thanks
Fabien

I've never heard of such a thing.
It would be far better to spend your money and time figuring out why it's moist down there.
No floor system or wall cover is going to work until you do.
90% of basement waterproofing is done outside not inside after it's to late.

Working gutters with down spouts that lead away from the foundation.
Grade that leads away from the foundation.
No much pilled up againt the foundation or flower beds that form ponds.
Run a dehumidifyer in the basement, working sump pump.
