glue down engineered wood floor

Can I glue down engineered wood floor over an existing engineered wood floor>

Jfmaturo 03-06-2011 06:20 PM

No. The existing wood floor is glued down to concret and is very solid. Can it be done?

JFmaturo--Let's see what a floor pro has to say about this----

It is not recomended to do this. As I stated in another thread older types of wood glue will break down over time. This type of floor may be stable now but may not be in a couple of years. But If you have to do this you would have to sand the finish off of the bottom layer. This would give something for the new glue to stick to. Again, this floor may not last.

There you go---If you feel that taking a risk on the stability of the existing flooring is worth the time saved in removing it.---Sand the old wood and glue down the new---

Thank you everyone. Now I can make a decision.
