All:
I am having carpet installed in 2 weeks in my basement.
They will be carpeting the stairs using waterfall method. My issue is that the stairs were previously open (no risers) and when I made my cuts for the risers, the pine boards were 1/2" short.
Because of where the house construction company nailed the Tread supports, I was forced to place the riser on the face of the tread. Because of this, i wanted to make the riser flush with the tread so no one would trip.
This leaves a 1/2" gap at bottom of riser in the back of the tread. I do have backer pieces glues and screwed to the risers, they are not going anywhere!
It looks incredibly ghetto but does anyone know if this will fly with carpet install? Can they still tuck the corner in? It would go underneath the riser a bit. Thoughts?
Thanks! And no, id rather not go buy all new risers.
