Flooring under breakfast bar

We are putting in a breakfast bar that opens into the living room. We are installing hardwood in kitchen, front door walkway into kitchen and where bar stools will be in the living room, but want carpet in our living room. How big of a space of hardwood flooring should be in living room, where the bar stools will be.....hardwood to carpet conversion???

Thanks

Flooring under breakfast bar

Roughly 4 feet is needed----make a mock up of your new bar--get a bar stool and see if there is adequate room with a person seated at the bar---tiled area will vary by the width of the bar top.
