Flooring options in front of exterior door?

We have a second floor exterior door, opening out to a deck. Directly underneath is water heater and non residential storage.
Because I took out a covering wall rain now reaches the door and the plywood floor in front of it.
I'm thinking of putting a small section of tile there to water proof it, because I want it done inexpensively and the areas beneath are non living spaces. What other options should I consider and how costly would they be?

Not a great plan. You need to stop the water from coming in at all.
It's going to rot out the floor, ceiling below, wall studs and bottom plates if left this way.
By code the threshold needed to be at least 4" above the top surface of the deck. If not waters coming in.
Some pictures would be nice to figure this out.
There also needed to be a jam sill under that door.

Tile is not going to stop the water from coming in or water proof the floor.

Ok so what your point? The water is going to end up costing you thousands of dollars in repairs if it's not controled.

Door pan flashing sounds better than fiberglass membrane. Would local hardware stores or lumberyards stock this product?
