Flooring Options

Thanks DIY for this service and a chance to learn new ideas and topics.
I am having an extension built on my house (extending den into a great room/sun room) and wil lbe installing a new floor myself. I am looking for some feedback and ideas of floor types. We have oak floors in our den today that the room will be connecting too but they look like they could be replaced. I have the same oak floors in the living and dining rooms. Our kitchen is betwen the den and dining room and our next big would be upgrading that. I would expect we would replace the floor there also and may go for wood (or laminate). I like laminate style floors, and the easy of installation (and cost) and some look like real wood but I am worried about the different looks in the house clashing? Can I match, should I not think about lamniate? Thoughts?

Don't do laminate, do real hardwood. Treat the room as a seperate living area and buy the best hardwood that you can afford, even if it doesn't match the other areas.
Just my opinion
