flooring nailer

Will something like a Bostich MFN200, designed for 3/4-in flooring, work for 1-in flooring?

Flooring guns are designed with an exchangeable pad. If you have 1/2 inch flooring you use the appropriate pad. Depending on the gun being used you may be able to simply change the pad on it. If you are still uncertain, check with the manufacturer for confirmation. If all else fails, do a test on a piece to find out if you have enough penetration. My thoughts are that you should if you are using a 2 inch nails, but some warranties require you to use staples.

Thanks. The Porta-Nailer Pro 410 model seems to make a pad for 1-in flooring. Only thing is, the nailer is rather expensive. I only need to do two rooms. I wonder if there's a cheaper model out there.

This is the one purchased so far put about 10K staples through it without a problem.

You could even purchase a used one from a rental store and then sell it when you are done using it. Just a thought.
