Flooring hardwood v engineered or laminate

We have a cabin in northern Wisconsin. We want to replace the floor coverings. We've pulled carpet up (has some glue spots left on subfloor, but not too lumpy) and we have old linoleum with glue residue. Kitchen has old tiles that are popping off (I think that glue I can get off with water), and the last room is the addition which is a clean subfloor. I was told laminate wood flooring might not work because of freezing in winter (we do not keep it heated all the time). If money were no issue we'd do it all in a nice hardwood maple or oak...but, if I don't have to spend all that, that would be good. We need about 560 sq ft. so, to the question: Has anyone checked out Lumber Liquidators? They have some hardwood (3/4" thick x 2 1/4 or 3 1/4" wide). I'm thinking if we go with that we won't have to worry so much about any residue on the subfloors and not have to pay for the underlayment. They have some "seconds" and utility grade oak and maple. Any comments appreciated!

Flooring hardwood v engineered or laminate

For sure hardwood has a better look and feel, and last longer also... So hardwood for sure if you got good deals... I wouldn't use laminate myself.. The difference on feeling is far too much when comparing with wood... especially those cheap liminate... if you are going to go with those other expensive type of liminate, why border, instead of going with real wood... My sister install the cheap one in her condo, I step on it like doing ice skating... My sister has the excuse though, her condo does not allow wood flooring... what a non-sense....
