Flooring Choice

We are looking to replace all flooring on the main floor of the house. This would include living room (currently carpeted), bathroom, kitchen (both currently ceramic tile), hallway and 2 bedrooms (currently hardwood that squeaks and is in bad shape). We have 3 children all of whom are hard on flooring. Possibility of dog in the future. I am looking for flooring that will be easy to maintain and look great. Any suggestions?

High end laminate flooring is really what alot of families have been using over the years, and the sales of laminate has soared because of it.

Now vinyl is waterproof, and carpet is cheaper to buy and install, but consider lam as an investment in high traffic areas.
perhaps carpet in BR's, Vinyl in Bath's, Lam in other areas.
Maybe keep the ceramic in the kitchen unless your sick of it.
good floor for durability and puppy pee.
