I am trying to find out how to remove wax from flooring in my apartment which is located in Japan.I don't know the exact type of flooring -definitely not a hard wood floor. Some kind of fake wood- I guess it is laminated flooring? Previous owner used wax. Is it even necessary to wax flooring anyway seems like a waste of time to me.

You never put any kind of coating on a laminate floor. Old wood floors with no finish on them were often waxed, and I still know a lot of people who insist on putting bowling ally wax on polyurethaned floors for some reason. Several chemicals will dissolve wax but it's hard to tell what they will do to the floor underneath.
