Flooring

we have a crawl space over dirt under our house. Leaks in thr 50 year old copper rotted the floors in some places. In replacing the wood, should we put a vapor loc layer between the sub floor and and top floor? What is suggested?

The proper placement of vapor barrier would be between the insulation and the heated space. If you do not have any vapor lock or insulation in place, I would think it would be better then none. I have seen many laminate flooring use a vapor lock type membrane beneath them so I would think its fine. I would still recommend insulating the floor at some point.

Dear S-52, Welcome to the forums :) I don't know where you are writing from but insulation is always recommended between heated and unheated (cooled and uncooled) spaces, and an integral vapor barrier is a good idea too. It's important also that your crawl space have ventilation.

Best wishes,

Steve
