I have recently been sanding floorboards with a view to woodstaining them. I have been advised to seek a clear wood filler that can be mixed with sawdust that can accomodate expansion and contraction.
Would be grateful if anyone could suggest a make (would be fantasic if solvent free) and where to purchase.
When I did this I used flexible filler coloured black to emulate the black shadow you find naturally with boards. it looked really good and as it was flexible stayed in for years.
Put this filler in after you've sanded though, I didn't and the sander just spread it everywhere!
The great thing about using flexible filler (silicon sealant) is you can get it in its water retardent form and plenty of shops have it
