Floor tiles - does this look right?

Hi all,

I'm having a guy install the floor tiles in my apartment, and it looks wrong to me - there is no grid that appears to be "standard" looking at the web, and from what I read online the edge tiles are supposed to be done after central tiles are all in place. Can you take a look at the pics of the work in progress and post what you think of it? I'm trying to figure out if this is right or not.

Thanks

The tile in these photos where not installed by a professional! There should be a perfect order to a tiled floor. Each tile corner should usually be matched up (i.e. Checkers) or staggered in half (i.e. bricks) patterned across the entire floor. Then cut to fill and match the pattern around the edges. I hope you did not pay for this job. If you did, please report the company you hired so they don't do this to another customer.
Good luck

Is the guy drinking or on some major drugs. The is not done by a professonal installer. It looks like he started to lay a brick pattern and then changed. If this is a store doing the job, I would call them to get out there right away and fix it. If you highered the guy yourself then I would not let him back in the house except to get his tools. In the later case you need to get the tile off the floor right away. The mortar should not have cured, yet. Scrape the floor and the tile and then find a professonal to do the installation. (Get refferences) Do not let the tile set to long. They will be a bear to get the mortar off. Good Luck

Where did you find this guy? What was he thinking?

I think, right about now, you realize why DIY is so popular---You would have done a better job yourself.

Sorry to see you hired someone on their first tile job----I would wonder what else he has done wrong.

Exactly right! How can anyone think that is OK?

He's a friend right? Obviously never installed tile before. Yikes!

This makes me sad.

I hate seeing a waste of perfectly good tile.

On the plus side, it's probably the 77 cents/square foot tile from HD.

Another fifth-grader let loose.

Even cheap tiles can be made to look good, you know.
