Floor tile - thinset question

I can see the lines from my thinset throught the ceramic tile - will these go away when the thinset is cured?

I'm doing floor tile for the first time. Mixed the thinset to the recommended "toothpaste" thickness - then let it sit for 5 minutes & stirred once more.

Unfortunately, it seemed to thin up to a pudding consistency - which made trowelling very sloppy.

Is this normal?

I felt like it was difficult to get the tiles to set at the same level (like the new ones wanted to sink a bit).

Thoughts / suggestions?

ETA: I went back in to look at what I'd done today and noticed streaking - I can see the trowell lines I made through the tile. Will this go away? I'm using a ceramic floor tile I bought at the Tile Shop.

That's scarry. I'm not familiar with "Tile Shop"; is it some type of outlet store with discountd factory seconds, or do you have first grade product. I'd be pretty skeptical of putting any tile on a floor where the tile and glaze was thin enough to allow the trowel lines to show through. Are you sure you have a ceramic and not a glass tile?

Some brands of thinset need to have a little more powder than the recommended amount to give it enough body to support the tile without sagging, particulary with large tiles.

Actually, it was like the water from the thinset wicked up through the ceramic tile & I could see a 'shadow' through the face of the tile.

The Tile Shop looks like a professional place. Saw lots of contractors in there during the several visits it took to select & buy my tile.

I'll try to mix the stuff really thick today before I continue.

ETA Please see the pics below... Any idea whether this streaking will go away after a day or two?

This way you must backbutter many tiles as well as use the color of thinset that cordinates.
I assume you used white as you should have?

It will fade over time, there is not much you can do now.
