Floor stained today

Had my old wood floor sanded and stained today( expresso color). They applied the stain with towels. Is that correct ? They are coming back tomorrow to finish. Thanks

Edit/adder: just went up there and it does not look to bad but one area about 3'x3' is def a lot lighter than the entire floor . That is the area where he put the sample stains, after he sanded, so we could choose. My guess is that he sanded the stains off this making that area of sanding different than the rest. Anything that can be done about this ? Thanks

Here are pics. It also looks like he did not wipe the stain off all the way on the edges. I'm pissed

It looks like the edges were not sanded evenly with the rest of the floor. If the finish has not been applied then it is possible to add a little more stain to the lighter areas. If the finish has been applied, then the only fix is to resand the floors.

Actually they fixed that area by sanding it. They did some type of steel wool thing to the entire floor and then polyed(matte finish) and I must say its looks soooo much better. They put 3 coats of poly... should I have them apply another coat or two? Thanks

That's good news. 3 coatings is the standard, and what nearly all flooring companies use. So the floors should hold up very well with 3 coatings. However, more coatings never hurts..
