We have a 12 x 16 room off our dinning room which was added to the house some years ago. It is attached to the house, however does not have a foundation, just sits on six support posts set into concrete sono tubes. The sub-floor us about 4 feet off the ground. The room is not heated and only used during the warmer months. It is mainly glass with operational windows and screens. I have heard it called a Florida room if that helps.
Currently there is indoor/outdoor carpet over 3/4 plywood and my wife would like to replace the carpet with with a laminate oak or something or that nature. Since much of the time there is at least one window or more left open out there, my concern is water coming in from a rain storm. I understand this is not a good thing for laminate flooring. Probably could tile it but I believe this would take away form the warm atmosphere of the room. Besides going with real oak and urethane, does anybody have a similar set up and perhaps an idea or recommendation?
Thanks for your help.
