Floor height issues when replacing double layer of laminate floor in kitchen

I am preparring to remove the flooring from our older kitchen in our 1966 home. All other floors in the house are in great condition and are hardwood. The kichen has an outside door and an entry way to the dining room and another to the living room.

I have not decided on tile or hardwood yet but I am concerned on the thickness of both. I do not want a step up or lip in doorway transition to the other indoor rooms or to have to adjust the door to the outside.

What is the best method to approach this job?

After deciding on the type floor you want, determine what spacing is needed to get to level by either removing old flooring sown to the subfloor, or building up for the new floor. it likely will not be ceramic tile, since that needs a VERY stiff base, usually min of 1 1/4" before the tile is installed.

It is unlikely you will end up with no bump. There are usually a variety of transition devices that make that transition less of a stumbling bump, visually and physically.
