My wife and I just bought our first house (new brownstone style townhouse construction) and one of the things we want to do is redo the basement. Currently it's an open floorplan style room that leads out to a garage. We really want to close it up and turn it into a workspace/4th bedroom.
It's about a 10x14' room with a 3/4 bath on one of the interior walls. One issue we've had since we moved in is how cold the floor is. I primarily use the room as my office/music studio so good sound separation is key.
I've read that floating a floor (2x4 insulated subfloor) does the job, but I'm not quite sure how to handle the transition through the existing bathroom door/floor and since the ceilings are only 8' high, I don't want to lose too much height.
Anyone have any ideas on how to best handle the situation? Thanks!
