I just completed my first time job! All I have left is to grout. My question is,Is their a way to give the floor a *wet* look? I am going to try and post a pic.

First tile job!

Are the lines supposed to line up after the boarder?

That was my screw up. I started with the outside 12x12's then i put the narrow border tiles in. I was not sure how to get the inner 12x12's to align with the outer ones.

First tile job!

The inner grout lines could not possibly line up with the outer grout lines 100% everywhere without two rows (4 rows) of deadman cuts somewhere.

I wouldn't worry about it now anyway, that floor looks great.

Are the larger tiles real slate or are they porcelain faux slate?

If they are real slate STOP.

You will want to seal the tiles prior to grouting any of it. If you don't your asking for a lot of work you won't be happy about and a helluva mess that will be very difficult to clean up.

NOW, the wet look thing.

There are sealers (topical coatings) that will give your floor the wet look but when you do that you enter into a maintenance issue down the road that you may not want to deal with.

So....first, are those tiles real stone or ceramic look alikes?
