Finishing unfinished stairs

I had a modular home built in 2007 and my stairs going from my living room to my upstairs bedrooms need to be finished. They came as a unfinished pine tread. My whole house has wood floors. What should I finish my stairs with that will hold up? I don't want carpet. Thanks

Finishing unfinished stairs

Oil-based urethane is a good, durable finish for wood floors (water-based urethanes dry faster but don't seem to be as durable).

Pine is a soft wood and doesn't usually hold up very well.
