filling face nail holes

Just finished putting in 600 feet of pre-finished handscraped hardwood. Now I need to fill the face nail holes around the edges, I tried using DAP fiber product, but it leaves a film around the hole that I can't seem to get off. What is the best product to use to fill in the face nail holes? I have heared that water base fillers are the best, any thoughts?

Thanks

Chris

the manufacturer should be making matching wood filler(putty) for your specific flooring. if they don't they should recommend one that comes close. Try HD or Lowe's, look in the paint isle, where the Minwax stains are. there are some small cans po prefinished wood filler. pick up the one closest to your floor color, rubb it with a finger into the nail hole, and wipe the excess with a damp rag. you don't really have to many color options with Minwax, but you might find something close. But again, first call the manufacturer or talk to whoever sold it to you about that.

the filler you used is good.. the excess will wipe off with a dry cloth. don't use water.
