Fill hole in hard wood floor in discrete location?
I drilled a 1" hole in the wrong place in our hard wood. It will be covered by a stove (not in an area where it will be warm) so nobody will ever see it. What is a "proper" way to fill that hole?

You can buy tapered wood plugs at woodworking stores to fit common sizes of holes. I don't know if you'll find 1" though. You could buy some 1" hardwood dowel, sand a little taper on it, glue it in and sand it flush.

Other than that, individual floor boards can be replaced with some creative chisel work. Remove one board (several inches or so, otherwise it will look wierd). Cut the tongue off a new piece of hardwood and wood glue/fasten in place. Sand and finish.

thekctermite got it! A quick Google came up with both solutions.
Not sure about quantity. Hopefully you don't have to buy a bag of 50 or anything:
However, if it's not cost effective to get a single (or few) plugs, get yourself a scrap piece of hardwood. Hopefully you have some left over. Now get one of these drill bits in 1":
You'll create your own plug by boring out a section of the scrap wood with this. Now you have a plug that can be glued and pressed in. After it drys, sand or chisel flush.
