Oak? Hickory? Maple?

I should state that we are looking to rent this condo and then sell in the next few years. So we want something durable, that looks nice, and are concerned with sound and insulation as a 2nd floor unit.
Then don't do anything more than clean and polish what you have.
Maybe cover it with cheap carpeting.

I strongly DO NOT RECOMMEND Armstrong. I purchased 2 samples, 1 from vendor, 1 from Armstrong. Both samples, and product images on the web looked similar, but the entire pallet I received has a pink tint, and shaded toward red. Armstong refused to do anything to make it right. The 2 samples, top face wood look side, and underlayment side are 2 different colors, vs the boxed planks.

It took me three tries to finally get all my boxes of laminate from Armstrong to match. I bought 12 cartons for my project and halfway through laying the floor I noticed the pieces from some of the boxes had a different hue. It wasn't obvious until the pieces were laid in the floor and I stepped back to look. Sure enough, the part number on the side of two of the boxes were different (had a -B or something like that after the part number).

Took those boxes back and waited for replacements. The replacements came in, but the tongue and groove were a different shape. The boards wouldn't even connect with the rest of the floor...looked at the part number and sure enough, it had a different number (a -C or something)!

Took it back and waited again. FINALLY got boxes that matched what I had already installed.

Looked great when it was first installed, but like I said earlier, the smallest drops of water can get between boards and they will swell up, it chips easier than it should, and also some of the boards have pulled away from each other. This is with moderate traffic.

So ask me if I'll ever install a laminate, let alone an Armstrong laminate again....

What exact Armstrong product did you use?

All my boxes are marked with the exact same model code. Its clear as day the samples and shipment are 2 different batch runs, and the shipment should not have passed QC due to overly shaded toward red. I understand there is variance, or color tolerance. But, this is the entire batch appearing off-color, not anything like the samples and marketing images.

Funny... I noticed on my boxes, in very small print on the label to not click this "-12D" model code to another model code for the same "Desert Tan Maple".
