I have put down a Pergo brand laminate (Jatoba 661). I got it online at the Pergo Outlet store. Was orignally $3.50 a square foot in the stores. I got it $1.69 sq foot delivered. I have put it down in one room already and love it. As we continue construction we have had wet boots, saw dust, tools dropped etc. Every night I run the swiffer over it and it looks brand new.
Also Cal-Floor makes a product called "Click Seal". I did a couple tests with it and it let a spilled glass of water sit on a few boards I treated overnight. Got up in the morning, wiped up the spill and waited. When I got home from work, the planks looked the same. No bubbling, no warping no cupping and the core was dry.
I have had laminate in one form or another my whole adult life, and the ONLY time I have seen it destroyed was a refrigerator leak that went unnoticed for 48 hours. There isn't an engineered or hardwood floor that would stand up to that.
