Engineered hardwood floor

I intend on laying an a prefinished hardwood 'clic floor at our 3 season cottage and also will be installing 1/4" mahogany ply sub-floor.
I have a compressor with tools and for ease/time/physical effort, would prefer to stable the sub-floor (approx. 500 sq. ft.).
I will also be installing a premium padding over the sub-floor prior to
the clic flooring.
I have installed sub-floor before (fin. flooring) and have always screwed the sub. Will I have an issue with staples?
Thank u in advance for your time and response.
Ross

I think your terminology is off, regarding subfloor and underlayment. http://homerenovations.about.com/od/...-Explained.htm

And why would you need to install 1/4" mohogany ply under Engineered hardwood?

You can staple the underlayment down to the subfloor.

Sounds like your talking about loun underlayment.
That would be useless under real hardwood flooring.
Back up and tell us what's on there now from the joist up.
