engineered flooring on cement basement

We had engineered flooring glued down directly to our basement cement floor in Dec/2009. This year we have had a lot of rain so the humidity has been higher than normal so the floor raised in spots due to the expansion. The flooring store who did the install is saying maybe we should have floated the floor over a membrane. Which is better to glue or float as the floor needs to be replaced and we donít want this to happen again.
