engineered to carpet transition

Have to make a engineered floor to carpet transition at three bedrrom doors. I purchased end caps to do this but am not completely clear how to do it. The salesman at Lumber Liquidators said I just glue the end cap down with Liquid Nail and tuck the carput under. First, I assume that the lip of the end cap goes over the wood floor - but how do I get the carpet to tuck under the end cap?

Thanks for advice!

it tucks TO end cap. Not under.

Dude was wrong.....

Thanks. How does it tuck to the cap? How do I keep the carpet from coming loose/fraying/etc?

Treat it just as you would a wall.

Put tack strip down 1/4 inch from the transition with the pins facing the end cap. Bump the carpet with a knee kicker to get it to hook on the pins and cut it about an 1/8 heavy abd tuck it

thanks all! mike, what does "abd" mean. also, where should the padding end? does it getted tucked as well? that what be some serious thickness to tuck.

I think abd was meant to me aNd. It looks like Mike types like I do, which ain't too good:whistling2:

no pad between the tack strip and the end cap.

carpet will just end at the end cap after stretched to it.

great, got it. thanks. can this be done without a kicker? (i don't have one and the combined cost of this remodel is killing me - conversely, i've spent so much already that i don't want a shoddy job just to save a few bucks)

Thats a fact, I type like crap.Lol.
Your right too the word was meant to be and. Good to know others are fluent in typo.

a kicker is best to get it on the tack strip.
otherwise your floor will not get hooked on the tackstrip and the carpet will eventually wrinkle.
