embossing linoleum

Good day! I have a question about embossing over linoleum. I am going to install Adura vinyl tiles over our existing linoleum. The old lino is in quite good shape and cut out any issues and filled with mapei quick patch. The old lino also has a bit of a pattern and have been told I need to emboss the lino. I was told I can use the mapei quick patch as a a skim coat. I tried this and found it to be very grainy, not a smooth finish at all - the lino has a smoother finish. I mixed it (powder to liquid) 3-1 diluted using both water and additive and applied it with a finishing trowl. Am I going about this all wrong? What should be end result look like? What should the consistancy of the product be for skim coating?
Any help is greatly appreciated to this newbie!

embossing linoleum

Never mind, they sold me the wrong product. Should be planipatch not quickpatch. Thank goodness scraped off what I had already done.
