ditra over plywood
I've been reading up on this stuff and am pretty impressed. I'm confused, however. Some contractor forums say to lay down the mat and let dry over night. Ditra installation instructions say you can lay tile over the mat as you lay the mat down. http://www.schluter.com/5793.aspx
Are both correct and just different techniques of personal preference?
The instruction also states, "use a thinset suitable for the substrate." What does that mean? My subfloor has VCT stuck down with cutback adhesive which I'm sure will have asbestos. I haven't attempted removal yet, but in the past this stuff has been a bear to remove. I've done some where plywood strands come up with the tile.
I think I'm in for a big job and sore back. It's about 220sqft.
