Dark stained oak floors

I am having trouble deciding what products to use to stain my new oak floors. I would like to achieve a consistant color throughout, not showing too much grain. Is it even possible and if so what products work best. By the way I have a 2 1/2 year old girl, a prgenant wife and two dogs that will have to relocate. Time is an issue but I dont want to sacrifice and use a product that will not hold up. I am open to using either water or oil base or even both togeter if that is even possible with the appropriate sealer?

just my 2 cents... i recommend trying to keep the color as light as possible. the darker it is, the more it shows dirt, and a 2 yr old and dogs? ummm.... =o)
