damaged doug fir

I have to replace a section of 100 year old vertical grain doug fir flooring. I've been to 6 or 7 lumber yards and a few millwork shops. No one carries this stuff, and the only place that can get it wants around $24 a square foot for the lumber and the t@g millwork, which I think is a bit pricey. I was thinking of just buying the boards and cutting them to the size I need but there isn't a subfloor (everything is face nailed to the joist) so I think the t@g is needed for added strength. I would use flooring from the closets except for the fact someone already did that to all the closets and replaced it with oak. Actually one place did have the flooring but not in the width I need. Apparently 2.5" isn't standard anymore. If anyone knows a place in the ny/nj area that might be able to help me out or has any ideas that'd be great. thanks
