cutting carpet for a built-in

I am preparing to construct a built-in bookshelf along the full width of one wall, about 14'. Carpet is berber, been down 5 years and is in great shape. I figure I'll trim the excess, leaving a couple of inches long, then after the shelves and cabinets are built and painted, get a carpet guy to stretch (?) it back over new nailer strips and properly trim.

Any gotchas with that plan?
